GB4IMD – IMD 2007
IMD 2007
In 2007, we operated from the Barrack block located at Pendennis Castle [built in 1901 the same year as the transatlantic contact from Poldhu].
An excellent site located high above Falmouth Bay and Harbour where a granite castle built in the reign of Henry VIII is located, on the opposite side of the channel entering the deep water harbour is its sister castle at St Mawes. Both would have been familiar landmarks to the young Marconi when he used Falmouth as his base during his experimentations in the area; traveling overland to Poldhu whilst using Elletra as his base where Civic Dignatories were entertained on many occasions.
The few pictures of GB4IMD operators show Ken G0FIC, the late Geoff M0GRC, Bob G4EIK, Mike G1NRF, John M0PCM, Russell M1AVW with pictures taken by me G4USB.
