GB4IMD – IMD 2008

IMD 2008

Here, we see the club at work during the 2008 IMD event, also at Pendennis Castle, Falmouth.
In these pictures are Ken G0FIC, Mike G1NRF, Geoff M0GRC, Bob G4EIK, Tom M0CNU & John M0PCM. Pictures once again taken by me, G4USB

We will forgive Mike (our Club Buddha hi)  for dropping off as he had been on-site for almost 24 hours by that time, having worked throughout the night from 0000 UTC to ensure a 24-hour operating period was observed. We are all getting older, although, Mike does not like to admit it, he can’t burn the candle as long from both ends these days.

The steam cars pictured arrived on the day after the IMD event, whilst we were taking down our antennas. This was an unexpected treat for us, and I am sure you will agree; the cars are superbly preserved/restored. Speaking to one of the owners I learned that the boiler is actually heated using a petrol fueled burner so not perhaps as green as you may have thought perhaps! hi
