The Volkswagen Scene
The Cornwall Volkswagen Owners Club is the oldest Volkswagen Club in the County of Cornwall having been formed back in the 1960′s.
Our membership is widespread with the core located within Cornwall, many members across the Tamar in Devon and a good number of members located in the far flung corners of England with the occasional joiner from overseas for good measure.
Although we have no formal Club premises we have in recent times made the Blue Anchor public house at Fraddon our home and each month we meet there as a Committee but welcome attendance by any of the general membership as we operate an open door policy with no secrets being kept from the members.
Alongside of these meetings we also arrange a further ‘event’ to held at least once a month. In the Spring, Summer & Autumn these events will consist of Treasure Hunts, Cruises and Cruise visits to attractions our members may like to visit. Some months will see a long weekend of camping from perhaps Friday evening through to Sunday at locations chosen for their family friendliness and super location. In the past we have visited locations at Bude, Portreath and across the border in Devon. In the winter months we have the gathering for the Annual General Meeting, A Christmas Cruise, A Christmas Party and each January a Quiz.
As suggested, the Club is very much a family orientated organisation and at every meeting we welcome many of the children along with their Mums, Dads Granddads and Nannies. We pride ourselves on the safety at our events as all members operate a ‘pack’ mentality keeping a watchful eye on everyone’s offsprinsg. There will always be someone to act as a temporary baby sitter if required and you will be sure the kids are safe and sound.
The main event mounted by the Club is the Annual 3 Day Event we call the Jamboree. Currently we hold this at the Stithians Show Ground located on the outskirts of Stithians village and conveniently located close to the towns of Penryn,Falmouth,Helston, Redruth,Camborne and Truro all being just a few minutes drive from the site.
The Jamboree is held on the Friday, Saturday & Sunday of the August Bank Holiday weekend and offers on site camping, a trade show, on site catering, entertainment for adults and children throughout the day
with evening disco’s and live bands in the marquee with a full licensed bar too.
