Thanks to working party of my Amateur Radio colleagues my Cushcraft X7 is now back on the top of my mast after a rest in my garden of almost 18 months!!!!

Unfortunately the HamIV I refurbished about 3 years ago and stored in a cupboard has a seized wedge brake, I guess, due to the corrosion suffered between the dissimilar metals being the steel wedge that passes through aluminum guides. Oh well, tethered to the NNW is not a bad direction.

Have already become re-acquainted with a few of my former regular contacts overseas, Roy VK6MV,
being the first. It is good to oput out a call and receive a mini pile up each time, back to normal.

Not many readers will have realised the significance of PLT {power line transfer} which is a means of distributing broadband signals via the electricity grid effectively. Radio Amateurs have found out the hard way that this method caused interfearence to radio services predonimenthy at present in the HF spectrum
up to 30Mhz.

Now it appears the game is changing and I wonder if public opinion may also change as now it will not be just the amateur community who will suffer but little jimmy listeniong to radio 1 too!!!

Take a look and don’t automatically blame the amateur radio operator on the oposite side of your road when your radio ceases to function it just mkay be your neighbours new plt file transfer system that is to blame.

The 7th Annual Swapomeet is due to take place on Sunday 4th April, Easter Sunday
at The Victory Hall, Roche, St Austell Cornwall,

Gates open from 9.00 am for set up and trader arrivals

From 10.00am for visitors who are not trading

Elaine will be attending to provide us with on site catering. You may remember her from
the 2009 Jamboree. Very reasonably priced wholesome grub.

Entry is nominally free but we will be asking for donations towards our two nominated charities so dig deep and bung £2.00 in the bucket when it is shaken in your direction.

This year the charities we are supporting are:

Cornwall Air Ambulance

&

National Animal Welfare Trust (Hayle centre)

All proceeds from the days collection will be divided equally between these two charities
so give freely you never know when you may need the Air Ambulance and helping disadvantaged animals is always worthwhile.
